Senior Substation P&C DesignerJob SummaryPOWER Engineers is currently seeking a senior CAD Designer to work as a Protection & Control (P&C) Substation Designer in the Power Delivery Substation Department of our Columbus office located in New Albany, Ohio.
Flexibility is available to work remotely and/or in the office.
Roles and Responsibilities The successful candidate will support substation project work and will develop one line diagrams, three line diagrams, control house layouts, protection panel layouts, schematics, wiring diagrams, network and IRIG-B diagrams, cable schedules, material lists and calculations to support design.
The successful candidate shall be able to specify and select relevant substation equipment; contribute to substation equipment specifications, proposal development, and project scheduling.
Other duties include understanding and adhering to client drafting standards and working individually within a team to complete complex and technically challenging aspects of electric utility substation design.
Required Education/Experience Associate's degree or equivalent technical education.
Candidate must have experience with AutoCAD (version 2016 or newer) or MicroStation (V8 or newer); experience with both is preferred.
Candidate must have protection and control design experience, preferably on electrical utility substation projects.
Candidate must have electrical reasoning skills and attention to detail.
Candidate shall have good command of the Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on Outlook, Excel and Word.
The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.
S.
without the need for work sponsorship.
Desired Education/Experience 8years' experience in electric utility substation design.
Familiarity with Raster Design and/or Bentley Descartes.
Familiarity with ACADE design software.
Ability to produce applicable drawings from rough sketches, notes, vendor drawings, and such.
Ability to select materials based on technical requirements.
Ability to generate material lists for equipment required for design and construction.
